Subscription Terms & Conditions

These terms and conditions apply to paid subscriptions (for non-UK State schools), individual subscriptions and free subscriptions issued to UK State schools.

Teach Shakespeare is owned and operated by The Shakespeare Globe Trust. By subscribing to Teach Shakespeare, you are entering into an agreement with The Shakespeare Globe Trust to receive a non-transferable, non-exclusive license to access and use the content on Teach Shakespeare for the duration of your subscription only for classroom teaching and internal training only.

These terms and conditions apply to both paid subscriptions (for non-UK state schools) and free subscriptions provided for UK state schools.

Paid Teach Shakespeare subscriptions expire at the end of the month, twelve months from your subscription start date.

Subscription Details

All Teach Shakespeare subscriptions are non-refundable. A 14-day cooling off period applies following your purchase in which a cancellation and refund will be processed. If you wish to cancel your subscription within this cooling off period, please email teach@shakespearesglobe.com. All subscriptions are charged in GBP and The Shakespeare Globe Trust take no responsibility for any additional charges or fees for international transactions or transactions made using corporate cards. We reserve the right to change subscription fees at any time, without notice.

Teach Shakespeare subscriptions will not renew automatically. As part of your subscription, you will be contacted by email before and shortly after your subscription is due to expire with details of how to renew.

As part of your subscription, you (and any teachers added as users to your subscription) will be contacted by email regarding new resources or features added to the site. If you would prefer not to receive these emails, please contact us by emailing teach@shakespearesglobe.com.

By subscribing to Teach Shakespeare, you agree to The Shakespeare Globe Trust processing your data, your school’s data and the data of other teachers who join your subscription as users in line with our Privacy Policy.

The following terms apply specifically to these subscription types:

UK State School Subscriptions

  • A UK State School Subscription provides access to Teach Shakespeare for teachers employed at the school. A UK State School Subscription is initiated when a teacher from that State School first registers for Teach Shakespeare. This teacher will be assigned as the admin user for this subscription unless this is subsequently reassigned.
  • Other teachers may be added to the UK State School Subscription by registering for Teach Shakespeare under the school using an approved email domain. This email domain is initially identified using the UK Department for Education’s school database but can be updated or added to by emailing teach@shakespearesglobe.com.
  • UK State School Subscription cannot be shared with other schools and user seats cannot be assigned to anyone who is not a current employee at the registered school.
  • Eligibility for a UK State School Subscription is determined by The Shakespeare Globe Trust using information accessed from the UK Department of Education’s school database. Our decision on eligibility is final, and we reserve the right to change how we define eligibility in future and to remove access in line with any changes to eligibility requirements.
  • We reserve the right to cease any UK State School Subscriptions or require reverification of eligibility at any time. We also reserve the right to cancel any UK State School Subscriptions, or limit access to the subscription, if we have reasonable evidence that the subscription is being misused, used by anyone who is not a current employee of the registered school or used in the teaching or training of students or teachers not currently working or studying at the registered school.

Paid Individual Subscriptions

  • An individual subscription provides access to Teach Shakespeare for the duration of the subscription to the individual purchasing the subscription. This license can not be transferred to another individual and cannot be shared between multiple users.
  • We reserve the right to cancel a subscription without refund, or limit access to a subscription, if we have reasonable evidence that a subscription is being shared.
  • The Shakespeare Globe Trust takes no responsibility for an individual being unable to claim the subscription fee back from their employer.

Paid School Subscriptions (including Enterprise Subscriptions)

  • A school subscription provides access to Teach Shakespeare for the duration of the subscription to a set number of teachers (‘user seats’) as specified in the subscription details.
  • This license cannot be transferred to another school but user seats can be reasonably transferred between teachers by a specified admin user. We reserve the right to temporarily or permanently prevent seat transfers if there is reasonable evidence that this ability is being misused to enable more teachers to access the site. We take no liability for lack of use of the subscription due to staff changes or user seats being unassigned.
  • User seats must be assigned to specific individuals, cannot be assigned to generic or shared inboxes and must not be shared between multiple individuals. We reserve the right to cancel a subscription without refund, or limit access to a subscription, if we have reasonable evidence that user seats are being shared.
  • An enterprise subscription may be subject to further terms and conditions as agreed in your enterprise subscription agreement.

Changes to Terms and Conditions

We reserve the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time. Notice will be provided via a site announcement (a visual banner on key pages) and/or an email to all subscribers.

If a change to these Terms and Conditions materially affects users, we will notify all subscribers in advance (giving at least 14 days’ notice) and allow users to cancel their subscription and receive a pro-rated refund for the unused portion of your subscription.
